The United States of America (USA) is the third largest country by geographic size on Earth. It is also our home. The second most visited country in the world, it's a place we have traveled extensively, but there's always more to see.
We love exploring things to do in big cities and smaller towns and sampling the best of the wine regions and craft distilleries that are booming across the country. Delving into US history is also a favorite for us, made that much easier by the fact that we live in Philadelphia, the place where the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were signed.
USA Travels
While we have traveled all over the US (Lance has been to every state once and the lower 48 twice), there are some destinations we return to over and over. We write frequently about:
The sweet sounds of a jazz trombone, the first crunchy bite of a shrimp po’boy, the sight of a wrought-iron balcony decked out with Mardi Gras beads. All this and more is what makes New Orleans, Louisiana, like nowhere else.
Kerrville, Texas, offers lots of shopping, art galleries and theaters, and several riverfront parks. With natural beauty, unique attractions, and great barbecue, there is lots to discover (and eat!) here.
Just a half-hour from Austin, Dripping Springs, Texas, combines some of the best outdoor activities in Texas with the food and craft beverages usually only seen in the cities.
Texas may not be the first place you think of for high-quality wine from the US. But you’d be missing out. These eight wineries offer remarkable scenery and award-winning wines.
The beautiful city of Annapolis is often overlooked in favor of its larger neighbors like Baltimore or Washington, DC. But Annapolis is a waterfront retreat, a college town, and a picture-perfect capital city full of fun things to do.
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has the feeling of a small town wrapped in a big city. Once known for its industries like tobacco and textiles, Winston-Salem has broadened its appeal as a center of art, culture, and food while still paying homage to its past.
