The Strange Culture of Malls in Dubai
In a city that does everything in a big way, it makes sense that the malls in Dubai are also big. But there is more to Dubai mall culture than just shopping.

Dubai has a reputation as a modern, cosmopolitan city. In Dubai, bigger is better: world’s tallest building, world’s largest mall, etc. However, in Bur Dubai and along the banks of the Dubai Creek, you hear the echoes of the old Dubai. In the heart of this area, we encountered the Dubai Gold Souk and knew we’d stumbled on some something truly special.
The northern coast of the Arabian Peninsula is populated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the nation of Oman. Oman was largely isolated form the world until the 1970s, so it still retains much of the charm that other countries in the region lack. Travelers who come to Dubai are often looking for a more authentic travel experience, which Muscat provides. Here is our ultimate guide to the Mwasalat Dubai to Muscat bus.

Ronda is gorges. Mostly, Ronda is known for the deep gorges that divide the community and play such an important part in the town’s history. Ronda Andalusia is still my favorite small town in Spain.
A day trip from Tarifa, Spain, to Tangier, Morocco, was our first opportunity to step foot on the African continent. The hustle and bustle of this coastal city did not disappoint.
The rocky outcrop of Gibraltar is famous for its unique topography, its stunning views, and its strategic military value (and a pesky territorial dispute). But these days, it is the Gibraltar monkeys that get all the attention on The Rock.
Seville is…special. Somehow, when I start telling people about places I love in the world, Seville usually makes the list. And there’s good reason for it – the city’s UNESCO sites, the Seville Alcazar and Cathedral, are both important and beautiful.
I’m a sucker for gardens. I find there is just something magical about Europe’s grand palace gardens. From the Schonbrunn in Vienna to Powerscourt in Ireland, Europeans know how to set a spectacle. But there are perhaps none grander the Versailles gardens in France.
